Terms of use

By accessing or using Sift, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who may use Sift

You may use Sift only if you can form a binding contract with Makesquare Studio Limited and your use complies with applicable law. If you use Sift on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. Using the service

Sift allows you to create and manage AI-assisted interviews, collect responses, and review summaries and analysis. You may use the service only for lawful, authorized, and appropriate business or research purposes.

You may not:

  • use Sift to violate any law or infringe another party’s rights;
  • upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or abusive content;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or related systems;
  • reverse engineer, copy, or exploit the service except as permitted by law;
  • use Sift to collect or process sensitive data in ways not authorized by applicable law or your own disclosures to participants.

4. Customer content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Sift, including interview prompts, responses, transcripts, and uploaded assets. You grant Makesquare Studio Limited a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display that content solely as needed to operate, improve, secure, and support the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit content to Sift and to collect information from participants.

5. AI-generated output

Sift may generate questions, summaries, and other outputs using AI systems. These outputs may contain mistakes or incomplete information and should be reviewed before you rely on them. You remain responsible for your decisions and actions based on the service output.

6. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of Sift at any time. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

7. Fees and billing

If paid plans or paid features are offered, pricing, billing terms, and any trial details will be presented separately within the product or in an order form. Unless otherwise stated, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

8. Intellectual property

Sift, including its software, branding, design, and related materials, is owned by Makesquare Studio Limited or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the service or our branding.

9. Termination

You may stop using Sift at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk for the service or other users, or where required by law.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sift is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Makesquare Studio Limited and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of Sift.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Makesquare Studio Limited and its affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your content, your use of Sift, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Makesquare Studio Limited, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the service or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of Sift after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the changes.
